Are Novotel hotels really worth it in 2026?
I'm hesitating to book a Novotel for a weekend in Belgium. Given current prices, it's not bad but I don't want to pay for a three-star that's just basic stuff. Any recent feedback on the quality?

I've tested it a couple times while traveling for my mushroom foraging trips and honestly it's clean, the staff is nice, and the breakfast is decent - nothing extraordinary but you get what you pay for! For a weekend in Belgium if you find a good deal, why not, but I really recommend checking recent reviews on TripAdvisor or Google because it can vary a ton depending on the location! I always manage to find a little hotel with some charm where the owner knows the good spots for mushrooms well, but that's my special thing really!
It's true it's solid, I've slept in a few Novotel hotels when I was going to job sites and it's honest for the price - no nasty surprises, clean, comfortable, but look it's not like a charming little boutique hotel either. If you're just looking for a decent place to sleep without breaking the bank, go for it, but if you want something authentic or really top-notch, you might want to look elsewhere.
