Best way to store and protect a hot wheels collection long-term

I've accumulated around 200 Hot Wheels cars over the past couple of years, mostly from thrift stores and garage sales. They're in decent condition but I'm worried about the paint fading and wheels getting gunky if I don't store them properly. Should I keep them in their original packaging or is there a better storage solution that keeps them safe but accessible?

Keep them in individual clear plastic cases or display boxes away from direct sunlight (UV's the real killer for paint), and store in a cool, dry place - humidity causes wheel gunk and paint issues way faster than anything else. If you want them accessible without opening originals, grab some decent display cases or shadow boxes; just make sure whatever you use isn't touching the paint directly and has decent airflow so moisture doesn't get trapped.
