I had balayage done three months ago at a salon here in Madrid and my hair ended up like straw - super dry and it breaks constantly. I've tried coconut masks, argan oil, all that stuff, but I'm not seeing real improvement. Is there anything that actually works or do I just have to resign myself to cutting off 10 centimeters?
Don't expect miracles from masks and oils if the damage is already structural: once the keratin has been broken by bleaching, at-home treatments only hydrate the surface but don't repair the fiber. The realistic thing is that those ten centimeters are going to be your best option if you want your hair to recover its appearance and stop breaking, plus that way you eliminate the damaged hair and start "from scratch" with healthy ends. In the meantime, forget about flat irons and high-temperature blow dryers, and look for a hairdresser who can offer you cuts with a technique that doesn't require much heat stress, like dry cutting or cutting damp hair.
