Can they ask me to pay for damage to a rental car 6 months later?

Is this a car rental you returned 6 months ago, or did you just return it and they're discovering damage now? Normally no, they have a timeframe to inspect and claim from you (usually a few weeks), so after 6 months it's too late for them unless there's something really serious that they deliberately hid.
