Most of the patterns from there are actually pretty usable, but often important details are missing from the instructions or the images are too small to make out. I'd recommend checking the comments first to see if other people ran into issues - sometimes things get cleared up there. If you want to knit something more complex, a book or a proper website like Ravelry is worth it, the quality is just more consistent there.
