I've had the exact same problem for ages and it's annoying. What really works is wetting the fabric with a bit of cold water and then scrubbing with a clothes brush or even an old toothbrush before throwing it in the machine - cold water is important because otherwise it sets the residue. Or you can also try soaking the garment for 15-20 minutes in water with a bit of white vinegar before scrubbing, that breaks down the white stuff deodorant leaves better.
