I Changed Phones and Lost My Flight Confirmation Code

I bought a flight with LATAM a week ago and got the confirmation on my old WhatsApp, but I changed phones and lost all my chats. I already tried logging in with my email on the LATAM website but I need the booking code to check my ticket. What can I do to recover my flight details without that code?

Did you check your flight confirmation email? LATAM always sends the reservation by email with the confirmation code included, so first thing is to look in your inbox or spam folder for that original message. If you find it there, you've got everything you need. If it's not there, contact LATAM customer service directly by phone or online chat with your ID on hand - they can verify your reservation using your personal information without needing the code.

The most straightforward way is to contact LATAM customer service by phone or live chat 📞 They can verify your identity with personal information (name, last name, date of birth, email) and give you direct access to your booking without needing the code. Plus, they can resend all the documentation to your new email, including the boarding pass if it's already available.

If you'd rather try it yourself first, search your current email really carefully (even in weird folders like promotions or updates) because LATAM definitely sent that confirmation. The thing is, sometimes those emails arrive with a generic subject line and people just ignore them. But if it really doesn't show up anywhere, then you'll need to call.

One important thing nobody else mentioned: if your flight is coming up soon, don't wait too long because customer service can get swamped during peak hours 😅 Better to call early in the morning or use the web chat. Also have your ID or passport handy because they're going to ask for it to verify you.

The confirmation email should be there, but I get your panic because something similar happened to me recently and the email ended up in spam without me noticing. Anyway, before you contact LATAM try recovering your WhatsApp chats if you made a backup on Google Drive or iCloud (depending on whether you use Android or iPhone), because a lot of times the full confirmation is saved there and you just don't remember. If that doesn't work, you definitely have to call LATAM with your ID in hand - they literally can look you up by name and date of birth, you don't need the booking code for that, they use it all the time when this happens to people.

Don't call customer service yet without searching your email thoroughly first, because the wait times are brutal and you could lose hours. Most people who have this problem find the confirmation in their inbox or straight in spam. Open your email, search for "LATAM" or "booking" and also check your promotions folder if you have it turned on. If the email came through, your booking code is there along with all your flight details.

If you really can't find anything in your email - and this is where it makes sense to contact LATAM - the live chat on their website is usually faster than calling. Have your ID document handy and get your full name, email, and date of birth ready. With that they can verify you're the reservation holder without needing the code. Customer service can access your booking directly in their system and give you all the information you need to travel.

While you wait for the chat to respond, also check your WhatsApp app. Sometimes WhatsApp web keeps chat histories backed up in the cloud if you had Google or iCloud backup turned on. It's not the most likely scenario, but it's worth trying quickly before you do anything else.
