Is a cordless vacuum worth it for a construction site?

I'm currently renovating my apartment and I'm constantly sweeping and vacuuming. Right now I'm using a regular corded vacuum, but that's super impractical on a construction site. A lot of people swear by the cordless models from Makita or Festool, but they're not exactly cheap. Is it really worth it or can I be happy with a cheaper model?

For a construction site, I'd say yes - but it depends on how much longer the renovation is going to run. If you've got weeks ahead of you and you're constantly making dust, the cable's gonna drive you crazy eventually. With a battery-powered one, you're just more flexible, don't need a cable reel, and can quickly vacuum in between without having to set everything up first. Construction debris and drywall dust aren't normal household dust though - your vacuum really needs some power and a good filter, otherwise you'll lose suction pretty fast.

The expensive brands like Makita or Festool just last longer if you're working with them regularly. But for a one-time renovation, you don't necessarily have to get the most expensive model. There are cheaper battery vacuums these days that are enough for projects like this - I'd just make sure the motor's strong enough and the filter works reliably. Best thing is to look at machines that are specifically designed for construction debris, not your standard household battery vacuums. The name-brand machines are an investment if you're doing this kind of stuff more often, but for a one-off project, you'll save money going with a cheaper option.

A cordless vacuum is definitely worth it because you're way more flexible and don't have to lug a cable around all the time! Whether it has to be Makita or Festool really depends on how long your renovation is still going to run - for a couple of weeks a cheaper model would do the job too, but if you're planning to use the thing more often later on, the pricier ones are just more robust and last forever.
