Is it worth buying running shoes online or in store?

I'm looking for new running shoes and I'm seeing much lower prices on Amazon and Decathlon online compared to physical stores. But I'm worried about the size, because my Asics sometimes fit tight on me. Does anyone have experience with returning running shoes online?

I've personally had a ton of trouble with shoes I ordered online because they just didn't fit right, and dealing with returns is such a pain. In my opinion it's worth going to a store to try them on at least once, especially if you've already had sizing issues with other brands - your foot size changes depending on the model and the sales person can give you better advice. Then if you find a model you like, maybe you can reorder it online when you see a discount, but that first try-on is important not to skip. Online returns work and all that, but losing time sending stuff back is frustrating when you're trying to start training.
