I'm stuck in a weird spot this year - my job starts shifts on January 1st at 6 AM, so I can't really do the whole night out thing. Most of my friends want to party until midnight or later. Has anyone dealt with this before? How do you celebrate without totally exhausting yourself?
Can you swing an earlier celebration with some of your crew? I'd say do your thing earlier in the evening - grab dinner or hit up a gathering around 8 or 9, catch the countdown if you're still up, then bail before things get messy. You'll actually enjoy it more knowing you've got sleep lined up instead of dragging yourself through a 6 AM shift like a zombie. Some folks just celebrate New Year's on the 30th or 31st afternoon instead and save the actual night for rest - nothing wrong with that either.
