I'm planning a two-week trip to Crimea. I'll definitely bring my smartphone, but the internet coverage isn't great in some places there. Should I print out a map of the main routes? Or is that totally outdated and I should just rely on GPS?
A printed map is basically insurance that weighs almost nothing and takes up no space, so just bring it without thinking twice. GPS works without internet (you just need a downloaded map in an app like Maps.me or Yandex.Maps), but a paper map is your backup in case the battery dies or the app starts glitching out.
