Should I switch jobs for better pay or stay put?

I've been at my current company for about 3 years and my salary hasn't kept up with inflation. Just got offered a position elsewhere that's 15% more, but I'd lose my seniority and remote work flexibility. My partner thinks I should jump on it, but I'm worried about losing health insurance benefits during the switch and settling into a new team culture. What's the actual math here?

The 15% bump sounds solid on paper, but you're right to sweat the non-salary stuff - losing remote flexibility alone might eat into that gain depending on commute costs and your lifestyle. Math-wise, figure out what your current benefits package actually costs (health insurance premiums, 401k match, PTO days valued out), subtract that from the new salary to get a real comparison, then ask the new employer point-blank about their benefits timeline and whether there's any gap coverage, because losing insurance even briefly can sting hard. If the new place won't match your remote setup and commuting becomes a drag, that 15% evaporates pretty fast, so it really depends on whether the role itself excites you enough to justify the trade-offs - money alone rarely makes a bad culture fit worth it.
