Both share the same base platform so mechanically they're very similar - the difference is mainly in design and price. The Skoda tends to be cheaper with comparable features, while the ID.5 has that more premium Volkswagen feel. It depends on whether you'd rather save some money without sacrificing quality or if the brand matters more to you.

The Skoda has a point in its favor that's worth considering: the interior is genuinely more practical and less "pretty but uncomfortable." The Enyaq's finishes tend to be more functional, with physical buttons well placed and storage spaces better thought out. The ID.5, while more modern-looking, relies more on touchscreens for everything, which ends up being frustrating when you're driving and need to adjust something quickly.

If the price is similar with the same equipment, I'd go for the Skoda without hesitation. Plus, the Skoda dealer network tends to be more accessible in many areas, and repairs usually cost a bit less. The ID.5 is a good car, but you get the feeling you're paying an extra premium just for the Volkswagen badge. The Enyaq gives you more car for the same money.

Both use Volkswagen's MEB platform, but the Enyaq has a slightly larger trunk and that makes a difference if you travel a lot or load things regularly. That said, where you'll really notice the difference is in how each brand interprets the space: the Skoda is more boxy and makes better use of the volume, while the ID.5 sacrifices some practicality for that sportier roofline that honestly doesn't add anything practical.

What nobody usually mentions is that you should test both on longer drives, not just a short test drive. The Enyaq can seem more luxurious at first, but after two hours on the road some users complain that certain hard plastics and the dashboard layout get tiring. The Skoda has that less "premium" but more durable feel, like what you'd expect from a Central European brand without the frills.

As for price, like others say, the Skoda usually comes out cheaper with the same equipment. But check the packages carefully because VW sometimes hides features that come standard on the Skoda. And if you can, look at what service center is closest to you, because that matters too when you need a check-up.
