What thermal clothing do you recommend for skiing in Patagonia?

I'm planning to go skiing at Chapelco next month and I don't know what to wear underneath. Where I live it gets cold but it's nothing compared to what they say about skiing at -10°C. Is it worth investing in branded thermal wear or does any thermal clothing work just as well?

The difference is in heat retention and how long you can go before you start feeling the cold, not really whether it works or doesn't work. Brands like Decathlon or similar work perfectly fine for Chapelco - people don't need to drop a fortune on premium thermal wear unless they're planning to spend the whole day on exposed slopes and want maximum comfort. The important thing is that it's merino or decent synthetic that doesn't absorb sweat moisture, because that's what kills you later. I'd say invest in a good base layer and a good outer jacket before spending money on expensive thermals - that protects you way more from wind and snow than anything else.
