Where to buy a groom suit without breaking the bank?

I'm getting married in March next year and I'm looking for where to get a good suit without breaking the bank. I've seen options at stores like Pedro del Hierro and also on Amazon, but I'm not sure if the quality is the same. Has anyone bought a groom suit somewhere they'd recommend?

Formal wear at established physical stores typically costs between 300 and 800 euros, so there's room to not break the bank. I'd say the best approach is to combine two strategies: first, go to shops like El Corte Inglés or more affordable chains like Carrefour or Alcampo that usually have decent formal suit sections. Buy during sales if you can wait (there are usually markdowns in January before your March wedding). The important thing is to try it on in person because the fit and how it looks on you is what really matters, not so much the brand.

Amazon and online shops are fine for specific things (tie, cufflinks, accessories), but for the main suit I'd be cautious. It's easy for it to arrive ill-fitting and then you get stuck with exchanges and returns. If you still want to try online, look at Zalando or fashion stores like Mango or Hackett that at least have decent return policies. And here's the trick: don't obsess over it being "wedding" wear. A well-cut grey or dark blue suit works perfectly for a wedding and you can rewear it afterwards.

If you're on a tight budget, consider renting it. There are companies specializing in formal wear rentals that for 80-150 euros give you a complete suit in perfect condition without the stress of buying it.

I bought mine a while back at an outlet store and I was pretty happy with the price, but what they don't tell you is that Amazon and similar platforms are a nightmare with returns if it arrives damaged or doesn't fit like you expected 😅 What works better is going to a physical store where you can try it on, even if it's at a more budget-friendly chain like H&M or Zara (yeah, they sell decent suits), and if you find something you like, negotiate a bit or ask if they have wedding discounts. There's also the option of renting if you're only wearing it once, which sometimes turns out cheaper than buying something mid-range quality.

If you're on a tight budget, outlets like Valdemoro or La Roca Village have decent brands at half price, and you actually get to see the suit before you buy it - which with Amazon is a total gamble with returns if it doesn't fit right.

What nobody mentions is that a lot of bridal shops have collections from previous seasons or display models that they sell at a pretty steep discount, just because that season's trend has passed but the suit is still flawless. Call a couple of formal wear stores directly and ask if they have old stock, because sometimes they'll give you outlet-level prices without having to go to a mall. Plus if you wait until January or February (close to your March wedding) there's likely to be end-of-season sales, so you can play around with timing too.

Don't lock yourself into Amazon if it's not absolutely necessary, because returning a suit that doesn't fit right is such a hassle and you're losing valuable time with March coming up so soon 😅 What I'd do is mix it up: start by checking chains like El Corte Inglés or Carrefour during sales (they usually have discounted ceremony sections), and if you don't find anything that convinces you, then yeah try the outlets people mention because you can see the actual fabric in person and normally the price difference is brutal. A buddy of mine found a decent branded suit for less than 200 euros at a bridal shop because it was from the previous collection, so it's worth calling and asking directly if they have stock from other seasons on sale 🎩
