5-day route through the Coffee Triangle - which towns shouldn't I miss?

Salento is a must if you want to see the Valle de Cocora with its giant palm trees, and from there it's easy to get to Filandia, which has a really well-preserved colonial town. Manizales is worth it for the architecture and the view from the cable car, and if you have time left over Pereira is smaller but has a great vibe. I wouldn't recommend trying to hit all of them at once because five days fly by - better to pick two or three towns and really make the most of each one instead of jumping around all day.

With 5 days in the region you've got just enough time to hit the essentials. Filandia is awesome because it's more laid-back than Salento but just as beautiful architecturally, and from there you can do Valle de Cocora without so many crowds if you go early 🌴 After that I'd suggest stopping by Manizales, which most people skip but it's got some incredible viewpoints and the vibe is different, more urban but with that coffee region feel. Pereira also deserves a day if you have it left, the city itself isn't mind-blowing but it's got good atmosphere and it's a solid stopover point.

What nobody's gonna tell you: smaller towns like Balboa or Buenavista don't get as much tourism and you can find cheaper accommodation there, good home-cooked food, and you're hanging out with locals without feeling like you're in a theme park 😅 If you've got days left after hitting the classics, check one of those out. Another hack: rent a car instead of doing group tours, even if it costs a bit more. You drive at your own pace, stop wherever you feel like, try stuff at roadside cafés without time pressure, and in the end it works out cheaper than backpacker tours.
