Android car stereo screen turns on but stays black

I had a weird thing happen: I installed a Chinese Android 13 car stereo (can't quite remember the brand) in my Fiat 500L and for the past two days the screen turns on, I can see the backlight, but the display stays completely black. I've already tried restarting it, disconnecting the battery for ten minutes, but nothing. What could it be?

It happens with screens from there too, often it's a connection problem between the display module and the main board or the software didn't load properly. Try checking the flat cables (ribbon cables) behind the screen to see if they're inserted wrong, and if nothing changes consider flashing the firmware from scratch - sometimes system images arrive corrupted.

If the backlight works but you see black, it's often a contrast or brightness issue stuck at minimum, or the flat cable between the screen and the board isn't inserted properly. First try to find the physical menu/setup buttons (they should be under the screen or on the sides) and turn the brightness all the way up - maybe the contrast too. If that doesn't change anything, disconnect everything and reinsert the flat cable connecting the display properly, because sometimes these Chinese units are put together in a rush.

Another thing: if during startup you see the Android logo or something else appear for a second before it goes black again, the software is loading but the display isn't communicating well. In that case a factory reset from the menu might help (if you can access it) or unfortunately you might need to reprogram the board - but first really try pushing that flat cable in every way possible, it's the solution that works most often.
