Started using Midjourney to generate quick thumbnails for my paintings instead of spending hours on Pinterest. Feels like cheating sometimes but it saves so much time. Is this acceptable in the art community or am I being lazy?
Using it as a reference tool is totally different from claiming AI-generated work as your own art - you're still doing the actual painting which is the skill! I'd say if it's saving you time on the reference hunting part so you can focus on your craft, that's just smart workflow, not lazy 🎨
You're not being lazy if you're still putting in the work with your actual paintings - that's where the skill is. I use reference photos all the time in my garden designs and nobody's clutching pearls about that, so I don't see why AI thumbnails are different. Just don't go around pretending the AI did the hard part and you're golden.
