I see a lot of my artist friends have ditched watercolors and oils, switched over to tablets. Feels like they've lost the soul of it, but maybe I'm just being a conservative? What are the actual advantages of digital drawing?
Don't think of switching to digital as losing your craft or soul - it's more like expanding your toolkit. Digital drawing lets you experiment without spending money on expensive materials, undo mistakes, instantly change your palette and scale your work, and your finished file is ready for print or publishing right away. A lot of artists actually don't completely drop traditional art, they just use a tablet for sketches, concepts, and commercial projects while saving painting for personal creative work - it's just a different level of convenience for different tasks.
