Don't believe that sensors can replace the feel of yarn tension - that's a skill you only develop through your hands and practice, and no gadget is going to help with that. For beginners, these needles are more of a distraction than a help: instead of focusing on your knitting technique, you'll be checking the app. They only make sense if you're already knitting confidently and want to collect stats just for fun, but even then, regular needles do the job just as well.
