Are the scents from new air fresheners really safe?
My wife bought one of those spray air fresheners and I always have to sneeze when she uses it. Are there any problematic ingredients in those things that you should avoid?

I totally get that, I'm in the same boat. My husband bought one of those really strong sprays once and I basically fled the kitchen, haha. The problem is that a lot of these air fresheners really do contain aggressive fragrances and chemicals that can cause sneezing fits, headaches, or respiratory irritation in sensitive people. Especially the cheap sprays often have phthalates in them, which are plasticizers that keep the scent lasting longer. Then there's artificial fragrances, alcohol, and sometimes even formaldehyde. It's really unnecessary and can get pretty annoying with regular use.
My tips: Check the ingredients - if it just says "Parfum" or "Fragrance" without specifying what's in it, there's usually just a whole bunch of chemicals mixed together. There are definitely better alternatives. I've become a total fan of natural methods since I've been living on the farm. Just regular ventilation helps incredibly well, or you can make your own air fresheners from essential oils - I do it with baking soda and a few drops of lavender oil in little jars. If your wife really wants something in spray form, there are also organic air fresheners without the problematic stuff. They're pricier, but they last just as long and are way gentler on your system. Your body will thank you for it.
