if the wiring and light are correct, the reverse sensor or the camera itself is most likely the problem, because the light often works but the sensor that activates the image on the screen gets damaged without you noticing! before replacing the whole unit, ask the shop to check that reverse sensor or try resetting the car's multimedia system because sometimes a restart fixes it, and if that doesn't work then you'll have to replace the camera - though electronic components this small almost never get repaired, it's more practical to buy a new one than to go hunting for individual parts.

Most of the time when the light works but the image doesn't show up on the screen, it's because the rear connector where the camera plugs in is failing, especially in cars that have gone through puddles or moisture. Before replacing the whole camera, ask the workshop to check that specific connector and have them clean the contacts with contact cleaner spray; sometimes it's just dirt or corrosion and it gets fixed in five minutes. If that doesn't work, then yeah, you'll probably need to replace the entire camera, but at least you'll have ruled out the easiest thing to fix.
