Can Oasis actually sell their old recordings even though the band doesn't want them to?

So apparently Oasis recordings are going up for auction despite the band objecting to it. This raises some interesting questions about who actually owns old music recordings and whether artists have a say in what happens to their work. Seems like a legal mess that could affect other bands and artists too.
