Don't expect a bar to last twice as long as a bottle of liquid just because it's solid! The truth is it really depends on how you use it, especially if you leave it wet all the time or share it with half your family.
A well-maintained bar (drying it between uses) can definitely last longer than liquid, but if you leave it sitting in water in the shower, it falls apart super fast and you lose all that advantage.
In my case, bars last me way longer, but I'll admit I'm kind of obsessive about drying them properly!
I've noticed the bar lasts me quite a bit longer, but you're right that how you use it is key. What hardly anyone mentions is that if you leave the bar in a soap dish with holes or somewhere it can dry between uses, it'll last way longer than if you keep it constantly wet or squished. With liquid you go through it much faster because you end up using more than you actually need each time, whereas with the bar you have better control over how much you're using. Real durability really depends more on your habits than on the format itself.
