Do you really need to do language exchanges in person or are Skype calls enough?

Video calls work really well for improving your speaking skills, but in person you pick up better on stuff like intonation, gestures, how someone actually reacts to you - it changes the dynamic. That said, if you don't have the time or people around you, Skype will totally do the job. It doesn't have to be perfect to learn.
