For damp rooms, I'd recommend Fermacell to you, since it's way more moisture-resistant than regular drywall. Drywall soaks up moisture and can start to get moldy, whereas Fermacell is made of gypsum and cellulose fibers and handles it much better. If you're gonna work in a bathroom or kitchen, you need something sturdy anyway - Fermacell is the safe choice there and just lasts longer.
Like I said, Fermacell is the better choice for damp rooms - that's how I'd see it too. Drywall swells up and becomes prone to mold, Fermacell handles moisture way better. And then it's also important that you ventilate properly and ideally plan for a vapor barrier in bathrooms.
You're partly right, but it depends on how wet it actually gets. If you've just got normal humid air in the bathroom and you ventilate properly, regular drywall with a decent moisture barrier in front of it will do the job - it's cheaper and easier to work with. You'd need Fermacell more if water's actually splashing directly on the wall or the humidity stays constantly really high. What room are we talking about specifically and how humid does it get in there?

Bathroom, standard shower with good ventilation. No direct water spray on the wall.
