I've got the same problem with really hard water, and white vinegar alone is super slow. What works well is mixing the vinegar with a bit of baking soda to make a paste, let it sit for 15-20 minutes and scrub with a soft sponge or microfiber cloth - no abrasive pads that'll scratch the stainless steel. For any stubborn marks left over, you can try fresh lemon juice or diluted citric acid, it's less harsh than vinegar but cuts through the limescale better.
