Have you tried taking it to a repair shop or are you really wanting to do this at home? If you're going to do it at home, you'll need a kit with specific tools (pentalobe screwdriver, suction cup, spudger), a lot of patience, and a tutorial video right next to you, because the iPhone 6s has really tiny screws and the screen is glued down with adhesive - one mistake and you'll damage the screen or the connectors. Honestly, it's safer to just send it to a technician, especially since an iPhone 6s battery is pretty cheap anyway.

I've already tried it once and messed up the screen. I'm taking it to a technician this time - it's safer that way.
The annoying part is getting the screen off without breaking the glass - the battery itself is easy to swap after that. The big risk nobody mentions: if you damage the home button or display connectors while opening it, it'll cost you more to fix than just going straight to an Apple Store.
If you're in a hurry and don't want to risk damaging the screen, heat up the phone with a hair dryer for about 2-3 minutes before you try to peel it off - the adhesive becomes way more flexible and comes off without breaking. After that it's pretty straightforward, but make sure to take photos of each step while you're taking it apart so you can put everything back together correctly.
