Fixative spray is your best bet - just give your finished drawings a light coat and it'll seal everything in place so smudging becomes way less of an issue. you can also try putting a sheet of paper under your hand while you work to minimize contact with the graphite
Fixative spray is solid but honestly the cheapest trick that actually works is just spraying hairspray on it lightly - sounds weird but it does the job if you're broke. another thing people don't talk about as much is your paper choice and technique: if you're using regular sketch paper and pressing hard with graphite, you're basically asking for trouble. switching to harder pencils (like 2H or 4H) means less graphite on the surface so less to smudge, and heavier paper like bristol board or mixed media paper just handles it better overall.
