How often should I be brushing my cat?

Don't assume once a month is enough - most cats need brushing at least a couple times a week, or daily if they have long fur, to prevent mats and reduce shedding. Short-haired cats can get by with weekly brushing, but it really depends on your cat's coat type and how much they groom themselves.
