If it's a king with a pawn against one king, then everything depends on the position. The main rule is: you need to prevent the opponent's king from standing in front of the pawn. If you push the pawn forward and the enemy king can't block it - the pawn promotes to a queen and you win. The king with the pawn should move in a way that either shields the pawn or clears the way for it, not letting the opponent stand in its path.

But if it's a king and pawn against two kings, then it's usually a draw. Two kings can almost always block a single pawn - they surround it from different sides and don't let it through. The only exception is if the pawn is already very close to the finish (on the seventh rank) and your king can defend it from both enemies at the same time. But in most positions with two kings against one with a pawn, it's a draw.
