Should I learn chess from apps or hire a coach?

I've been playing chess for about a year, and my rating is up to 1200 on Chess.com. Right now I'm mostly self-teaching through an app - studying openings, solving puzzles. Some people say that without a live coach I'll develop bad habits. Does it make sense to look for a coach, or are apps enough for intermediate level?
