Hair with high porosity absorbs moisture really fast but loses it just as quickly, so what you need is to keep it hydrated constantly. The best thing is to use products with both proteins and humectants together - not just one or the other - because if you only hydrate without sealing, the water's gonna evaporate right away. And remember not to use heavy hairspray or apply a lot of heat, because porous hair gets damaged way easier. Some simple tricks that really help: let it air dry when you can, do a deep conditioning treatment every week or two, and if you wet your hair, rinse it with cold water at the end to seal the cuticle a bit.

What happened to me is I started using conditioner every time I washed my hair and I almost regretted it because it got greasy to the touch, so I had to find the sweet spot: now I use lighter products but consistently, and the difference is noticeable. The trick is not to get obsessed with piling everything on at once, but being consistent with the basics - moisture, protein, without overdoing it. Try starting with a good leave-in conditioner, that's what worked best for me without having to switch products every week.

What works best is sealing the cuticle with products in small but frequent doses, like leave-in conditioners or light oils after each wash, instead of saturating with heavy conditioner. I have pretty dry hair naturally and learned the hard way that less is more: a bit of coconut or almond oil on the ends, air-drying when I can, and avoiding heat as much as possible make all the difference. It also helps a ton to reduce how often you wash if you can manage it, because every time you wet porous hair you're opening those cuticles back up again.
