Pure superstition. The story probably comes from when people only had candles or dim lamps, so they'd see themselves distorted in the mirror and get scared - it's like that haunted house effect where your own reflection freaks you out in low light. Nowadays with normal lighting that doesn't even happen, but the belief stuck around and became tradition. Keep mirroring yourself at night without worry, there's zero basis to any of it.

I look at my bedroom mirror every single day before going to bed and I've never had any problem with it! This is 100% superstition, there's absolutely no scientific basis to it - a mirror is just glass and light reflection, it doesn't attract anything whatsoever. Bad energy is made up, what actually exists is our mind playing tricks on us when we're tired or in the dark, and then anything seems scarier. Sleep soundly, your mirror won't do you any harm!

Mirrors at night don't bring anything bad, it's just superstition really. People see that reflected image in low light, their face looks different and that's enough to create fear - but a reflection is a reflection, there's no energy involved in it.
