Thailand's pretty safe overall if you use common sense. I've driven plenty of tourists around my city and met folks coming back from Thailand all the time, and the vast majority have zero issues. The main tourist areas like Bangkok, Phuket, and Chiang Mai are well-established and heavily policed. You'll see tons of tourists there year-round, and it's become pretty routine.
That said, there's the usual stuff to watch out for anywhere - petty theft in crowded places, scams targeting tourists (especially gem scams and rigged taxi meters, ironically), and you gotta be careful with street food if your stomach's sensitive. Some areas up north near the borders have occasional political tensions, but that's not really where tourists go. The rainy season is July through September, so you might deal with flooding in some spots depending on where you're headed. Just check current weather and any travel advisories before you book.
The best approach is what I tell any passenger heading there - stay aware, don't flash expensive stuff around, use registered taxis or apps like Grab instead of hailing random cabs, and keep copies of your passport somewhere safe. Millions of people visit Thailand without incident every year. Just do basic travel prep and you'll be fine. Way less stressful than some places I could name.
