Is it still common to give money in envelopes as wedding gifts?

My cousin is getting married in September and I'm not sure if putting cash in an envelope is still the normal thing or if people have switched to other ways of giving gifts. My parents say it's tradition, but I see that a lot of people now ask for things from Amazon or even do crowdfunding. What do you all do?

It's still pretty common to give money in an envelope, honestly, but nowadays it's more normal for the couple to offer options. Some ask through platforms like Amazon or Honeymoon Fund so people can choose, but the envelope still works great and a lot of people like having the freedom to do whatever they want with the cash. What I'd do is ask your cousin casually if they have any preference or just give an envelope without worrying about it - nobody's going to get upset, it's money after all. If you want to be safe, you could also do a direct transfer or ask if someone's organizing a gift collection.
