I've been studying with AI for the last six months - it corrects my essays and explains grammar. My parents say that's wrong and I need a real teacher. But is this actually an effective way to learn, or am I just saving money for nothing?
An AI is great for practicing specific skills like grammar or writing, but a live teacher gives you something it can't - feedback on your pronunciation, motivation when you're ready to give up, and the ability to spot systemic errors in your approach that repeat across different contexts. If you have good discipline and study regularly, you can get by with an AI to save money, but your progress will be slower than with a teacher.
Half of success is just regular practice, not some wizard with a diploma. An AI does a great job if you have the discipline and can see that you're improving yourself. But it won't notice if you're mispronouncing words or avoiding speaking - only a person who actually hears you can catch that.
