I'm thinking about taking a vacation in September and I'd love to visit Fernando de Noronha, but I'm not sure if it's the best time. Does anyone know what the weather is like then? Is there a lot of rain, are prices crazy, or is it actually worth going?
I won't lie, September is basically the end of the dry season there, so rain isn't the big problem - what ruins it is the rough sea and poor visibility for diving, if that's what attracts you. The prices stay astronomical anyway (the island has always been expensive), but at least in September you've got fewer tourists than in peak months, so you can book things more easily and maybe even get some occasional discounts. Is it worth it? It depends on what you're expecting: if you want calm beaches and perfect diving, you're better off waiting until early in the year; if you basically just want to see the place and don't mind running into some ugly waves, September works and you save yourself a bit of crowds around you.
September is really tricky if you want to do diving or snorkeling, because visibility gets bad and the sea is pretty rough 🌊 Prices don't drop much that time either, unfortunately - it's not like catching a shoulder season where you get discounts. If you're more into hiking, watching wildlife and aerial shots of the island, then it works out well, because the dry weather helps with that, but get your money ready because Fernando de Noronha burns through your cash year-round anyway.
