Is Xpeng trying to become the next Tesla by partnering with other car makers?

The Chinese EV company Xpeng is apparently looking to offer its tech solutions to other automakers instead of just making their own cars. That's a pretty interesting business move - basically becoming a supplier of self-driving and EV tech rather than only competing as a carmaker themselves.

xpeng's doing what a lot of chinese automakers are trying right now - hedging their bets by becoming tech suppliers rather than betting everything on selling their own vehicles. it's not really about copying tesla's model so much as recognizing that licensing software and autonomous systems is less capital-intensive than ramping up factory production. what hasn't been mentioned much is that this also lets them build relationships with legacy automakers who'd never buy a whole xpeng car but might license their stack - those partnerships become defensive moats against both tesla and other chinese competitors, plus they get validation from established names.

Don't assume every tech company move signals ambition to copy Tesla's playbook. Xpeng licensing its autonomous driving and EV tech to other manufacturers is more about diversifying revenue streams and securing partnerships in a crowded market - it's a practical strategy for a Chinese automaker to gain influence globally, rather than necessarily copying Tesla's approach.
