In Japan, men were allowed to wear shorts to the office because of the heat, and women are unhappy about it. They're saying it's some kind of "sunehara" (hairy legs). Isn't that discrimination? Why weren't women given the same privilege?
it's not really discrimination - every country has its own ideas about what's proper, and in Japanese culture, exposed male legs are seen as less of a big deal than female ones. women there get allowances differently too: they can wear looser fabrics, lighter clothing, sometimes they're allowed to skip nail polish in summer - it's just less noticeable in the dress code.
