My dog won't eat regular kibble anymore

sole_silvia IT 🌱 Newbie 👁 6 ⚑ Report Dogs

For a couple of months now my labrador has been refusing the Friskies he's always eaten. I've tried mixing them with Pedigree wet food but nothing, he just pushes it away. He doesn't have any other symptoms, he plays normally and drinks regularly.

As said above, switching brands could solve everything, but I'd add a detail that's happened to me too in the warehouse with certain suppliers: sometimes the same brand changes its formula or batch and the dog notices right away, especially labradors who are a bit picky. Before throwing everything out I'd try checking if the kibble you have now is from the same batch as before, and if not well then it's worth trying a different brand, maybe something a bit nicer that might appeal to him more.

Dogs can get tired of the same kibble just like we do with monotonous food - I actually switched brands when I noticed my husky doing the same thing. I'd try switching completely to a different brand like Royal Canin or Orijen, maybe at a pet store they can recommend something based on your Labrador's age and needs, but if he keeps refusing everything I'd go to the vet to rule out dental problems or something else you can't see.

He might just be fed up with the same old brand, dogs get bored like we do. Try switching to a completely different type of kibble, maybe something more premium or with different flavors, and you'll see he might eat it. If he keeps refusing all dry food, take him to the vet to rule out teeth or digestive issues, but since he plays fine it's probably just a matter of taste.
