We rented an apartment from 1972 and the landlord says the electrical wiring is still original. Some of the fuses look weird and I'm not sure if it's still safe for modern appliances like a microwave and hair dryer.
I wouldn't just ignore that. if the electrics are still from 1972 and your landlord's being so casual about it, that's a red flag. fuses that look weird are usually a sign the installation's outdated and not designed for modern loads. using a microwave and hairdryer at the same time could easily blow a fuse, and worst case you've got a fire hazard. this isn't something where you just hope it works out.
your landlord's legally required to maintain safe electrics. that's not optional, it's an obligation. i'd document it in writing (email or letter) and get an electrician to check it out. something like that costs a few hundred euros and should be something your landlord has to cover if he can't be bothered. get an inspection done and then you've got proof of what needs to be fixed.
my old apartment was pretty much the same deal, total wreck from 1975. the electrician said the whole wiring needed replacing and the panel too. costs money obviously, but that's the landlord's responsibility not yours. push back on this, it's too important to wait around until something breaks.
