Rubik's Cube puzzle: where do I start?

Most people who get into this start with the layer method, which yeah is a pain at first but it's the most intuitive once you get it. I've been watching people in the cafeteria try to solve it for years and honestly the cross method is the one that causes the least frustration in the long run, so I'd tell you not to give up on the tutorials, because with a week of practicing like half an hour a day you'll have it down perfectly.
