A digital piano is more convenient for an apartment - it's more compact, doesn't need tuning, and won't bother your neighbors if you wear headphones. But if you're planning to get serious about it, an acoustic is better: the keys feel more responsive, the sound is easier to control, and your hand muscles develop properly. Choose based on your situation - if space and noise are deal-breakers, a digital saves you, but if you have the conditions for it and you're not a beginner, an acoustic will give you more.

The main difference is in how it feels: on an acoustic piano the keys return with physical force, on a digital one the electronics imitate that, and even expensive models can feel different. If you're starting from scratch, a digital will work fine, but if you later want to switch to acoustic, it can be awkward - people who got used to light keys often struggle to relearn on a real instrument.

That said, digital really saves you in a dorm or a noisy apartment: headphones and no neighbor problems, plus no tuning or maintenance needed.
