Does your dog already have a problem with ticks, or are you looking to prevent them ahead of time? Both are solid options, but what the others haven't mentioned: some dogs react to fluralaner (Bravecto) with stomach issues or behavioral changes - it's rare, but it happens. Frontline is topical, so you apply it on the skin, and some people find that more reassuring because you can see where you're putting it. On the other hand, you have to reapply it more often. In the end it comes down to your dog and how much the longer-lasting effect saves you the hassle - both work fine if your dog tolerates them.

Frontline and Bravecto differ mainly in their duration of action and active ingredient. Frontline (with fipronil) lasts about 4 weeks, while Bravecto (fluralaner) works for 12 weeks. That's the biggest practical difference - if you don't like having to deal with it every month or your dog makes you forgetful, Bravecto is definitely more convenient. On the other hand, it usually costs more per application, but calculated per month it's often similarly expensive.

Which one is better also depends on the dog itself. Some dogs tolerate Bravecto really well, while others experience side effects like nausea or diarrhea - but that's rare. Frontline has been on the market longer and therefore has more experience behind it. Pretty much all vets know both products and can tell you specifically what makes more sense depending on your dog. Especially if your dog is sensitive or you have multiple dogs, it's worth having a conversation with your vet - they know the history and can better assess what works.

With ticks, it really comes down to how often you have your dog outside and how susceptible he is to parasites. If your dog's constantly running around in the forest or you just can't be bothered spraying something every four weeks, the longer-lasting effect of Bravecto is obviously convenient - you save yourself an application four times a year. That said, some dogs react more sensitively to fluralaner, and with Frontline you've got more control because you can retreat more often if something goes wrong.
