I read "Into the Wild" by Jon Krakauer about a guy who went into the Alaskan wilderness with minimal supplies - the book really grabs you with its honesty and makes you rethink what freedom and adventure actually mean. I'd also recommend travel memoirs like Victor Konetsky's or contemporary blog-books by people like Fyodor Konyukhov - they're all based on real expeditions, described in detail, with all the hardships and joys you encounter along the way.
