A basic drone with good battery life and a decent camera is more than enough for spotting mushroom zones - something like a DJI Air or similar, nothing fancy. The main idea is just to scout out the damp, shady areas before you head out on foot, not to go crazy with surveillance. After that you've gotta respect the local drone regulations, there are restrictions depending on the region, so check up on that stuff before you launch your drone.
