What movies about deepfakes and AI have come out recently?
I'm interested in the topic of video manipulation and AI. I've heard about a few new films on this subject, but I can't remember the titles. What's worth watching?

A few interesting films on this topic came out in 2024-2026. "Synthesis" and "Digital Shadow" are directly about deepfakes and video manipulation - if you're looking specifically for the technical side and the dangers, they hit the mark. There are also more philosophical works that touch on questions of identity and reality in the age of AI, though the plot might be broader than just deepfakes.
Besides new releases, it's worth checking a few years back - several years ago some films came out that have already become classics for this subject matter, where these themes are treated seriously, not just as special effects. Check Kinopoisk in the science fiction and thriller genres, sort by year - you'll find a lot of useful stuff there with the filters.
One more tip: look not just for feature films, but also short films and mini-series - that's where directors often experiment with the theme of video and reality manipulation. Documentary films on the topic are coming out more and more too, and they're often more interesting than fiction for actually understanding the problem.
Actually, if you're interested in the theme of video manipulation through the lens of human relationships rather than just technical details, it's worth checking out psychological thrillers where AI or deepfakes become a tool for gaslighting. I rewatched a film recently where the main character can't figure out what's real and what's been edited, and it's psychologically way more intense than just a demonstration of technical capabilities. If you want something specifically about the dangers of technology in politics or mass manipulation, those are completely different films - more of a documentary style.
