I'm planning to travel to the Northeast at the end of the year, but I'm finding the prices absolutely insane. I saw some tips online saying there are specific days to buy cheaper flights. Does anyone know if that actually works or is it just a myth?
Tuesday and Wednesday usually have lower prices because demand drops on those days, but what really matters is booking in advance (like 2-3 months ahead) and keeping an eye on airline promotions, especially on random days when they release discounted fares. For Northeast flights at year-end it's tough because it's peak season, so unfortunately you'll end up paying more than other times even if you book on the best days.
That thing about specific days of the week works way less than people say, because airlines have changed their algorithms a lot over the past few years. What really matters is booking early (6-8 weeks in advance in your case), but watch out for a trap: if you keep going back to the website all the time to check prices, most airlines track that and can actually increase the price specifically for you, so it's better to just pick a day to compare and call it a day instead of refreshing every single day.
