Is it worth buying electronics on Mercado Libre or better to go straight to a physical store?

I'm looking to buy an air conditioner and I've noticed there's quite a price difference between Mercado Libre and department stores. Mercado Libre has sellers with great ratings, but I'm worried about delivery issues or receiving something different from what's advertised. Do you think it's safer to buy there or is it worth paying a bit more at a physical store instead?

I'd still buy on Mercado Livre, but you gotta be careful! Look for sellers with high ratings (like 95% or higher) and who have a solid sales volume, read the recent comments to see if people are complaining about delivery or getting the wrong product. Air conditioning is too expensive to risk with a shady seller, so if you've got any doubts about the guy's reputation, better just go to a physical store! The price difference usually pays off if you get a trustworthy seller, but don't just go clicking on any cheap listing you find.

I don't think it's as simple as picking one or the other - it really depends on the seller. I've bought an air conditioner on Mercado Livre from a top-rated seller and everything went smoothly, but the risk is definitely there - delayed delivery, factory defects that turn into this whole back-and-forth returning process. The advantage of a physical store is that if something arrives wrong you sort it out right then and there, you don't have to spend time negotiating with the seller. If the price difference is really big, I think it's worth trying Mercado Livre, but pick a seller with a proven track record and read through the comments carefully, not just the overall rating. If it's just a small difference, honestly I'd pay more to walk out with the product and the legal guarantee in hand.
